College Life Tips

hello people!

work sucks... I have been staring into blank space for the past 4 hours, doing nothing at all. But i get paid, oh well :)

attended Mech Eng camp as a councillor this year. my feelings about the camp is that being a councillor really tests someone's responsibility level and stamina to get the energy going. I felt like a lousy councillor no matter how hard I've tried. Broke down like twice cos of the camp, guess I'm stressing myself out too much. but it's finally over and I see freshies slowly warming up to each other and that really warms my heart. :') the camp was not only for the freshies but I also got to know other councillors, SiYing, Dennis, JiaJun, HweeSheng. they are all very nice people, different from what I thought out to be hehe :P

While being a councillor, it makes me think back one year ago when I was a freshie myself. I told myself: this is my only chance to get wild in university and experience things I would never experience once I step out to the working world.

Rule #1: STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE.
& that was exactly what I did.

I joined Rag, an annual performance with a hugeass float with dance and cheerleading. Used to have trust issues... but cheerleading made me trust people better. I mean its like your life is literally in their hands. Never did I regret spending the one whole months being actively involved in it.
I joined Raffles Hall, a balanced play & work place where I've decided to reside in. :) super convenient as it was just beside the school of engineering.
I joined Touch Rugby. OMG a sport!! *a round of applause for the non-sporty girl*
I was in RH Paegent! wanted to reject it, but it was like once in a lifetime so I was like "arghh... heck it, no one will remember thise after awhile, #YOLO".
I joined two school clubs! SME and Engin Club to enhance my planning skills.

So anyways, some freshies have been asking me how's hall life and what to bring to hall! I'm thinking they asked the wrong person cos' I simply bring everything to hall, had a hard time moving everything back home :X but I am still gonna provide a list of suggested items to bring anyways :)
  1. Toiletries, Clothes, blah blah blah the normal living essentials
one thing to note: prepare lots of sports wear enough to change a few times a day. I don't know about you guys, but ever since I've moved to hall, I've been bathing at least three times a day! All the random activities in the middle of the night happening~
  2. Board decorative items is a MUST!
this is probably to motivate yourself to study hard, and paste a few pictures of your darling friends and family to ease the loneliness (if you stay in single room)
  3. Mini fridge
to store your milk, fruits and yogurts.
  4. Radio, cards, cups and "emergency bottles"
be ever ready to start up parties & hype up the mood for mini drinking sessions every now and then throughout the semester. I mean, occasional drinking sessions are the times when people let their hair loose and just relax and no pretence! righttt? :)
  5. Study Calender / Organiser
this is very super important, I just cannot emphasize this enough. Practice time management for all your hall activities + school time schedules and venues + EXAM DATES (& venues of course).
yup, that's about it :) I hope these few tips help!
Just keep in mind that college life is a once in a life time. Go wild while you can before you enter the dull and mundane working force!

We'll live while we young ~(song by One Direction)

Have fun! ^^ Adios~
